When Jesus states 'I AM' in John 8:58, He is not merely identifying Himself but is making a profound claim to divinity, echoing the very name of God revealed to Moses in Exodus 3:14. Furthermore, the Septuagint translation of the Hebrew scriptures emphasizes God's timelessness and existence as the necessary being from which all creation derives. This understanding was well-known among the Jewish audience of Jesus' time, who would have recognized the implications of His statements. The use of 'ego eimi' by Jesus is a direct affirmation of His divine identity, aligning Him with the God of Israel. Additionally, the New Testament consistently portrays Jesus as divine, with passages such as John 1:1 affirming, 'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.' This foundational truth is further supported by Jesus' miracles, His authority to forgive sins, and His resurrection, all of which point to His divine nature and the reality of the Trinity as one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
