However, the New Testament contradicts this notion by asserting that Jesus has been exalted to a position far above all powers and authorities. For instance, Ephesians 1:20-22 states that God raised Jesus from the dead and seated him at His right hand, far above all rule and authority. This indicates that Jesus holds a unique and supreme status that cannot be reconciled with the idea of him being merely a god. Furthermore, Philippians 2:9-11 emphasizes that God has exalted Jesus to the highest place and given him a name above every name, which leads to every knee bowing to him. This level of exaltation is reserved for Yahweh alone, as the Old Testament clearly states that God will not share His glory with another. Therefore, the claim that Jesus is merely a god and inferior to the Father is not supported by the teachings of the New Testament. Moreover, the assertion that Jesus shares in God's glory does not diminish his divine status but rather affirms it. The Scriptures indicate that Jesus has been granted authority and honor that reflect his divine nature, which would be blasphemous to claim for any created being. Thus, the New Testament presents a clear picture of Jesus as the exalted Lord, equal in glory with the Father, rather than a subordinate deity.
