If Allah is truly eternal and self-sufficient, who did He inherit this world from and to whom will He bequeath it?

The concept of inheritance implies a need or a deficiency, which contradicts the nature of an all-sufficient God. In Christian theology, God is described as self-existent and independent, as seen in John 1:1, where it states that 'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.' This indicates that God has always existed and does not rely on anything outside Himself for His existence. Furthermore, the idea of inheritance suggests that something is passed down from one being to another, which is not applicable to God. He is the Creator of all things and does not require a lineage. Hebrews 7:3 describes Melchizedek as 'without father, without mother, without genealogy,' which serves as a type of Christ, emphasizing that God is above all created order and does not conform to human understanding of lineage. Moreover, the Quranic assertion that Allah does not beget nor is He begotten (Q. 112:3) aligns with the Christian understanding that God is unique and transcendent. The Christian doctrine of the Trinity reveals that God exists in three persons but is one essence, which does not imply any form of inheritance or deficiency. Thus, the question of inheritance is moot when discussing the nature of an eternal and self-sufficient God.
