Isn't Allah the only sovereign ruler of the universe, as stated in the Quran?

The Quran indeed asserts that Allah is the sole sovereign ruler of the universe, as seen in various verses that declare His dominion over the heavens and the earth. However, a closer examination of the Quran reveals passages that illustrate Allah's delegation of authority to individuals, such as prophets and kings. For instance, the story of Talut (Saul) being appointed as a king over the Israelites demonstrates that Allah can choose to grant kingship to others, which implies a shared authority under His ultimate sovereignty. Furthermore, the concept of Allah's sovereignty does not negate the existence of human governance or leadership. In the Christian understanding, God is sovereign over all creation, yet He has established human authorities and leaders to govern societies. This duality reflects a divine order where God remains the supreme ruler while allowing for human agency and leadership. Additionally, the Day of Judgment, as described in the Quran, emphasizes that all authority ultimately returns to Allah. This reinforces the idea that while He may grant authority temporarily, His sovereignty is never compromised. Therefore, the assertion that Allah is the only ruler can coexist with the acknowledgment that He appoints others to positions of authority, highlighting a complex relationship between divine sovereignty and human governance.
